A thermostat is a series of automatic control elements that physically deform with temperature changes in the working environment, producing special effects that switch circuits on or off — or electronic elements that supply temperature data to a circuit based on their different operating states at different temperatures.
Fluid-medium temperature controllers regulate automatically using the thermal expansion of a temperature-sensing fluid and the incompressibility of liquids. When the controlled temperature rises, the sensing liquid expands and its thrust closes the heating medium down to lower output temperature; when the temperature falls, the liquid contracts and, under a reset device, opens the medium up to raise output temperature — keeping the controlled temperature within the set range.
Bimetal thermostats work on thermal expansion and contraction. All objects expand with heat, but to different degrees — a bimetal strip exploits exactly that difference.

An SCR voltage regulator — short for thyristor power controller, also called thyristor regulator or SCR power controller — is a power-control electrical device based on thyristors with a dedicated control circuit at its core. It offers high efficiency, no mechanical noise or wear, fast response, small size, and light weight.
